Over the years I have worked in both studio and on-location photography.
One big pro for a studio is you don't have to worry if it is going to rain on the day of your shoot. You also have lights you know and can rely on. Each outdoor session is different and that's why they are so challenging, fun and exciting.
Perhaps that's part of the reason I love them so much. Every photo session is different and every client can tell their unique story, in a variety of locations with changing light conditions. You don't have to have the same standard background like the 100 clients before you. Many clients come to the studio asking for 'natural' shots but I am always limited to certain poses and styles due to the size of the background.
Nature is the best background for any kind of photo shoot but especially for children and families.
In a natural environment you can be yourself; that helps me to capture your character and tell your story. Whether at the beach, local park, woodland or maybe a special place in the New Forest you visit every Sunday, I can deliver beautiful images you and your family will cherish forever.
Headshots for professional use can work well outdoors but shoots can also be done in your own home, your favorite cafe or your shop - whatever represents you and your business best. I understand the need to build your brand and create a personal and emotional connection with your audience.
Newborn photo sessions are a great example for on location photography. Who does really want to get ready and go to the studio seven to ten days after giving birth? Instead you can let the photographer come to you and have a lifestyle shoot in the comfort of your own home and get beautiful, unique and meaningful photographs.
It is obviously up to you and what kind of photos you like. There is nothing wrong with studio pictures, they can be very professional, artistic and beautiful. However my personal preference is natural light photography.
Did you visit a studio to have pictures taken and would like to try a different photography style? Get in touch and let me know what kind of photo session you're looking for.
